Today I connected with Dave Teixeira of Dave.ca. We discussed the Occupy Vancouver encampment, the Civic election, how BC premier Christy Clark is doing and Dave gave his two cents on what the comings months would look like in Ottawa.

Canada, consider yourself OCCUPIED. The Occupy movement came to Canada last week with some impressive turn outs, but with the American protests focusing on Wall Street's implosion as the reason for United States current economic realities, what are the Canadian protesters focusing on.

The youth unemployment rate is 17.2%.
The poverty rate in Canada is over 10%.
One in seven Canadian children live in poverty.
Homeless shelters are over capacity.
Canadian food banks are facing constant shortages.
One in four First Nations children live in poverty.
More than 100 First Nations communities are under boil water advisories.

And of all the critics of Canada's "Tough on Crime" legislation, who would have thought that one of the most critical would be Texas? What lessons should our government learn from the Texan experience with Mandatory Minimum sentences and what messages do Texan officials have for Canadian legislators.

Several days ago pundit and former NDP MLA David Schreck made an innocuous comment regarding the appearance of an uninvited guest to the British Columbia legislature: The Premiers Cleavage. His tweet set off a firestorm across every media outlet from coast to coast and resulted in some extremely offensive comments made in the form of personal attacks against Schreck, his wife and the NDP in general. I spoke with David today to get his take on the situation and why he thought there was such a backlash against the expectation of professional attire in the provincial legislature.

On today's show we examine the Supreme Courts decision to force the Federal Government to keep Canada's only safe injection site, located on the downtown east side of Vancouver, open. As well, we examine the Conservative attacks on the International Planned Parenthood Federation and what it could mean for the future of the availability of abortion services in Canada. And environmental activists protested the plan for a new pipeline to funnel bitumen from Canada's tar sands down to Texas. Why is this pipeline a bad idea and should we continue our reliance on oil?

Will the Conservative Government's Omnibus Crime Bill, which packages together nine previous bills into one, do what the Tories say it will? How will it affect the criminal justice system? We hear from a Victoria police officer on why manditory minimums for drug possession are not effective.

We also hear from two BC attorneys on what the new crime bill will mean for the already backlogged BC legal system
